OUT OF NETWORK
- Often massage therapy insurance coverage is not included in standard health plans, but when choosing a new plan you can do your research and look for one that does cover massage therapy.
Massage Therapy Coverage
If you learn that your insurer covers massage therapy, ask these questions so you will understand how your policy will cover it:
- What are the conditions to qualify for reimbursement?
- Can a licensed massage therapist preform the massage or does it need to be done by a physical therapist, chiropractor or acupuncturist to be covered.
- Is there is a deductible or any out-of-pocket cost to you?
- Is there is a maximum amount payable per policy term/year?
- Is there a maximum reimbursement per visit? For example, if the maximum per visit is $90, and you use a massage therapist who will charge $150, you will not be able to claim the full amount.
- Is there a time limit per body region?
- Are there specific massage therapists you must go to?
- Do all types of massage qualify for coverage?

FAQs
Does Deep Relief accept insurance?
Yes — we are in-network with a few smaller carriers and accept other major plans for out of network services if your plan offers coverage, otherwise we can offer you a superbill for services rendered to submit to your carrier for reimbursement.
What services can I use insurance for?
Acupuncture and chiropractic are commonly covered. Massage typically is not.
How do I verify my benefits?
You can submit your insurance info online, and we’ll send a personalized benefit summary.
What if my plan shows different copay information?
The member portal can be misleading — we provide accurate verification directly from your insurance carrier.
How does it work if I have out of network coverage for any of your services?
You will be required to pay up front for your services at the standard rates. Deep Relief will then bill for your services and if and when your health plan pays us we will reimburse you. Some health plans will send payments directly to you the patient.
