Massage Therapy Insurance Coverage
IN-NETWORK
Deep Relief is transitioning away from in-network insurance billing.
Deep Relief Austin is phasing out participation with insurance networks so we can focus on providing the treatments our patients need without insurance restrictions, visit limitations, or changing coverage requirements.
Sana Health is currently our final remaining in-network insurance plan.
Sana is also phasing out its benefits for massage therapy, acupuncture, and chiropractic care. These benefits will remain available only until each member’s individual Sana policy renews. Once your plan renews under Sana’s new benefit structure, these services will no longer be covered.
CURRENT SANA MEMBERS
If your current Sana plan still includes massage, acupuncture, or chiropractic benefits, Deep Relief will continue to accept and bill Sana while those benefits remain active and while we remain participating with the plan.
Because renewal dates vary by member, there is not one single date when everyone’s coverage ends. Your benefits may change when your individual policy renews.
We strongly recommend confirming your current benefits and renewal date directly with Sana if you are unsure when your coverage will change.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOUR SANA BENEFITS END?
You can absolutely continue receiving care at Deep Relief.
Once your Sana benefits are no longer available, services will transition to our self-pay rates and membership options. Our goal is to keep high-quality, results-focused care straightforward and accessible without allowing insurance companies to dictate the type, frequency, or duration of your treatment.

OUT OF NETWORK
Can I still use my insurance?
Deep Relief is transitioning away from in-network insurance billing, but that does not necessarily mean your health plan has no benefits for massage therapy, acupuncture, or chiropractic care.
Some insurance plans may offer out-of-network benefits or member reimbursement for these services. Coverage varies significantly by plan, so we recommend contacting your insurance company directly to understand your individual benefits.
QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY
If your plan includes massage therapy, acupuncture, or chiropractic benefits, consider asking:
Does my plan include out-of-network benefits for this service?
Can I see any licensed provider, or am I required to use an in-network provider?
Does the service require a referral, prescription, or medical diagnosis?
Does my deductible need to be met before reimbursement begins?
What percentage or dollar amount will my plan reimburse?
Is there a maximum reimbursement amount per visit?
Is there an annual visit or dollar limit?
Are there restrictions based on diagnosis, body region, or treatment type?
What documentation do I need to submit for reimbursement?
IMPORTANT TO KNOW
Insurance coverage is an agreement between you and your insurance company, and benefits can change when your plan renews.
As Deep Relief completes its transition away from insurance billing, our team will no longer verify benefits, obtain authorizations, submit claims, or communicate with insurance companies on a patient’s behalf.
If your plan offers out-of-network reimbursement, you may be able to submit a super bill from your visit directly to your insurance company for consideration.
Your insurance company ultimately determines whether any portion of your treatment is eligible for reimbursement.

MVAs
Motor Vehicle Accident Treatment
Injured in a car accident? We may be able to bill your auto insurance directly.
Motor vehicle accident treatment is handled differently from traditional health insurance. While Deep Relief Austin is phasing out in-network health insurance billing, we continue to accept eligible motor vehicle accident cases and may bill auto insurance directly for covered treatment.
Depending on your claim and coverage, this may include Personal Injury Protection (PIP), MedPay, or other applicable automobile insurance benefits. We can also work with attorneys when appropriate.
If you’ve been injured in a car accident, early treatment can make a significant difference in your recovery. Our team treats many of the musculoskeletal injuries commonly associated with motor vehicle accidents, including whiplash, neck and back pain, headaches, muscle spasms, and soft-tissue injuries.
TREATMENT MAY INCLUDE:
Therapeutic & Medical Massage
Deep Tissue Massage
Myofascial Release
Trigger Point Therapy
Chiropractic Care
Acupuncture
Dry Needling
Cupping Therapy
WE CAN HELP WITH THE INSURANCE SIDE, TOO.
For eligible motor vehicle accident cases, Deep Relief can bill the appropriate insurance carrier directly, rather than requiring you to submit claims yourself.
Our team can also coordinate with your attorney, insurance carrier, and other healthcare providers when appropriate and provide the treatment documentation necessary for your claim.
Coverage and payment arrangements vary by accident and insurance policy, so please contact our office before scheduling your first MVA appointment so we can review your case and determine how your treatment will be handled.

FAQs
Does Deep Relief accept insurance?
Yes — we are in-network with a few smaller carriers and accept other major plans for out of network services if your plan offers coverage, otherwise we can offer you a superbill for services rendered to submit to your carrier for reimbursement.
What services can I use insurance for?
Acupuncture and chiropractic are commonly covered. Massage typically is not.
How do I verify my benefits?
You can submit your insurance info online, and we’ll send a personalized benefit summary.
What if my plan shows different copay information?
The member portal can be misleading — we provide accurate verification directly from your insurance carrier.
How does it work if I have out of network coverage for any of your services?
You will be required to pay up front for your services at the standard rates. Deep Relief will then bill for your services and if and when your health plan pays us we will reimburse you. Some health plans will send payments directly to you the patient.
